Well, hello, there! I’m Trish Raap, a Certified Life Coach.

So who am I really?

I’m a wife, mommy, dog mom, grandmama, daughter, sister, friend + current breast cancer survivor!! We all wear so many hats, don’t we? But let’s not have them define us! And let me tell ya… just like everyone else, life hasn’t been easy for me, either.

Becoming pregnant in high school at 16 was not the plan (is it for anyone that young?). However, with a shit ton of support, it was manageable, and I grew up quickly.

Instead of going to college immediately after graduating high school a semester early, I took a year off and worked... (Single Mama here, and I needed $$, right?)

Education + Certification

After the gap year, I attended Northeast Iowa Community College and received a diploma in Office Technology. Three years later, as a single mama, I became a student at Mount Mercy University in their Business program, and graduated with a Bachelor’s! Now, I am also a Certified Master Life Coach from Transformation Academy after completing advanced training in life purpose, happiness, goal attainment, and coaching methodologies.

Work + Career Life

Looking back at it all now, my jobs always involved supporting people, so it’s no surprise the journey has led me here… to Life Coaching!

  • Starting at a small-town grocery store Jack & Jill as a Cashier,

  • A shift Supervisor at Hardee’s (who doesn’t love their Ham & Swiss?)

  • National Sales at a radio station (Yes, the DJs are super fun to party with after work!)

  • Membership Services Representative at the YMCA.

  • Teller at a credit union.

  • Administrative Assistant to really great Sr. Program Managers at a Fortune 500 company. (We still have lunch together!)

  • Transitioning over to Human Resources in their Contact Center and promoting my way up to sitting at the table with Sr. business leaders for over 16 years. (Gosh, how I miss those beautiful leaders and masterminding, brainstorming ideas, building each other up… We had really good times at work - YES, it’s possible to enjoy working!)

  • Then I was in my dream role as a Director of Campus Engagement. There I got to work alongside talented Marketing gurus, Enrollment development, and Campus Leaders in Higher Education. To sum up my duties: it was to keep everyone happy. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and my position was eliminated with 3 business days notice.

Parenting Years

After getting married to my dream man, we would have never guessed it would take 4+ years to be successful in starting our own family. We tried EVERYTHING to have children… temperature tracking, phases of the moon, blood work, semen analysis, fertility meds, ultrasounds, hysterosalpingogram test, diagnostic hysteroscopy, fertility injections, and lots of IUIs. We found the best-known local doctor, who helped so many couples get pregnant. Unfortunately, we got miscarriages. So, we were connected with a wonderful girl for a private adoption (which ended when the father kept his parental rights 2 weeks before delivery).

After some time, healing, and prayers, we decided to take one final step and began the IVF process. Thankfully, both “transfers” were successful, and now we have another son and daughter.

Yes, we are still going through the parenting years ourselves. While my oldest is now in his 30’s, married, and a daddy (eek… I’m a grandmama), we also have two teenagers in school.

The Beginning of Simplify With You

In 2017 during my HR days, I didn’t feel like I was helping people in my position to my fullest potential. This eventually led to my depression and anxiety diagnosis. I was having (what I consider) out-of-body experiences. Things like crying on the way to work. (Who does that?) Or not being able to get out of the shower. (What the heck?) I cried a LOT. So much my dear children will tell me something then immediately ask, “Is that going to make you cry, Mommy?”. (Who in the hell have I turned into?) I had a great, and I mean GREAT life! And not only was it great, but I also had (and thankfully still have) the best supportive husband I could have EVER dreamed of!

However, in all darkness, there is light. There. is. always. light! First, I found a great therapist! She is AMAZING! With her, I realized I had a yearning to help more people, and it was the push I needed to start a Professional Home Organizing business. I named it “Simplify With You”. And designed it to help evaluate clients’ current chaotic space and create a tailored organizational plan for them (and their family) to live more simply + efficiently!

Life was better! And then Covid became an all too well-known word in everyone’s home.

Why Life Coaching?

When my job was eliminated in 2021, I turned to online learning to keep myself busy + fell in love with Life Coaching. Let me tell you… the first learning session was supposed to be 7 hours long, however, somehow I turned it into a full week… YES, I kid you not! I was so engrossed with being coached myself, that my days quickly became filled to the brim going through the process of finding my purpose!

The “a-ha” moments and realizations I never connected with before in all my 45 years were staring me right in the face! I mean, I have learned more about myself during those Life Coaching months, than so many years prior.

Now, I want to help others feel that same sense of liberation and excitement. I believe everyone deserves to discover who they truly are and what they are capable of. As a life coach, I am committed to helping my clients achieve their ideal lives and make the most of this one precious life we are given.

You don’t have to do this alone! I’ve got you!

What she said…

“If you are looking for help in achieving your own goals and conquering life stressors, I would highly recommend Trish!”

“I was at a point where I was juggling too many things and my anxiety was very high. Right away, with my first session with Trish, I had a sense that she was going to be a great resource for me. I knew she did some professional organizing for people, which I was hoping she could also coach me through.

We did everything virtually, which was ideal for me. Trish had me evaluate myself on where my energy and time went. The tool she used for that was eye-opening. We worked on prioritizing the things I was struggling with and goal setting as she coached and pushed me toward my goals. If you are looking for help in achieving your own goals and conquering life stressors, I would highly recommend Trish!”
